EXHIBIT SUPPLY CO. "STREAMLINE" NOVELTY MERCHANTMAN DIGGER

The Exhibit Supply Co. of Chicago manufactured several different models of diggers with the name “Novelty Merchantman”. This one, called the “Streamline” was the most modern of the series in appearance as Exhibit advanced even more into the Art Deco styling so popular with the public (and now collectors). On occasion I discover an antique digger that is well enough preserved that I feel it can be enjoyed unrestored if wanted. This is one of them, and I believe it can easily go into the future just as it is and appreciate in value as a collectible investment - - - or be restored if wanted. This is an excellent example of the walnut wood cabinet, the specialized white metal trim, and the unusual lock features which have made the Streamliner one of the most desirable collectible diggers to appear occasionally on the open market. Except for the newer motor and electric switching this offering is otherwise fully original from top to bottom and I date it to be circa.1947. The coin drop is unusually original and tends to fool many a coin-op “expert”. The catch-basket with horizontal coin entry slot was a modern post-war feature which used coin-rejecters rather than the usual (and undependable) trigger switch of the 1930s To find one of these models with the original coin entry in tact indicates a long period in storage or in a collection where is was safe from the usual damage caused when the front face casting is cut-out by arcade operators to accommodate more modern coin entries. This is a solid, quite original, Exhibit Streamline, which the astute collector will recognize. This machine is sold without shipping charges added. Vintage Amusement (James Roller) will arrange the shipping, and the buyer will pay the actual shipping charges estimated at $420. +or- on a ‘Freight Collect’ basis. The price is "firm".
