9th BRIDGE,
transporter crane, European built overhead crane, circa 1937
This recent James Roller restoration
features a glass enclosed turntable operated by the brass lever on
the front of the face casting. Behind the lever is the original
mercury switch to rotate the table. The coin mechanism is a very
early type roll-down mech of heavy brass construction. The nickel
coin actually itself serves as the conductor to close the electric
circuit powering the cycle of the crane. The cabinet is solid
mahogany wood with mahogany book-match veneers. The upper front
corners are hand carved designs in the mahogany.
This Victorian style beauty now resides in the collection of a
discriminating west coast collector.
